Se cunosc mai multe specii care cresc \u00een:India, Sri Lanka, Insulele Seychelles \u015fi China.  Arborii sunt de 5-15 m cu frunze ovate, opuse, de la care recolteaz\u0103 scoar\u0163a ramurilor tinere.<br \/>\nCele mai cunoscute sunt: C.arromaticum sau C.cassia, care cre\u015fte \u00een China sau uleiul \u201cde Cassia\u201d (ulei de scor\u0163i\u015foar\u0103 chinezeasc\u0103), \u015fi C. zeylanicum, care cre\u015fte \u00een Sri Lanka, India \u015fi Seychelles \u015fi care d\u0103 scor\u0163i\u015foara de Ceylon este considerat \u00een general superior celui de tip cassia. Arborii sunt de 5-15 m cu frunze ovate, opuse, de la care recolteaz\u0103 scoar\u0163a ramurilor tinere ce furnizeaz\u0103 produsul Cinnamoni cortex ce con\u0163ine 1-2% ulei volatil \u00een care componenta principal\u0103 este aldehida cinamic\u0103 cu propriet\u0103\u0163i antiseptice, antihelmintice, aromatizante, corector de gust, utilizat \u015fi \u00een patiserie ca aromatizant.<br \/>\nUleiul volatil se ob\u0163ine din scoar\u0163a uscat\u0103 \u015fi m\u0103cinat\u0103 a arborelui, sau din frunze \u015fi r\u0103d\u0103cini. \u00cen func\u0163ie de provenien\u0163\u0103, uleiurile au compozi\u0163ii total diferite.<br \/>\nUleiul din scoar\u0163\u0103 este un lichid de culoare galben\u0103 sau brun-ro\u015fcat\u0103, cu un miros picant aromatic, specific scor\u0163i\u015foarei.<br \/>\nUleiul din frunze este un lichid galben-\u00eenchis sau brun, av\u00e2nd un miros aromatic, asem\u0103n\u0103tor uleiului de cui\u015foare.<br \/>\nUleiul provenit din scoar\u0163\u0103 con\u0163ine compu\u015fi de natur\u0103 terpenic\u0103: \u03b1 \u015fi \u03b2-pinen, felandren, p-cimen, linalool, terpineol, camfor \u015fi cariofilen;compu\u015fi cu nucleu benzeic: aldehida cunamic\u0103 (65-75%), eugenol (4-10%), acetat de eugenil, acetat de cinamil (aprox. 3% \u00een uleiul de Ceylon), alcool cinamic, benzaldehid\u0103, bezoat de benzil, aldehid\u0103 hidroxicinamic\u0103 \u015fi aldehid\u0103 cuminic\u0103.<br \/>\nUleiul volatil din frunze con\u0163ine \u00een primul r\u00e2nd eugenol (80-95%) \u015fi numai 1-3% aldehid\u0103 cinamic\u0103. Ceilal\u0163i componen\u0163i \u00een uleiul de scoar\u0163\u0103 sunt prezen\u0163i \u00een cantit\u0103\u0163i foarte mici sau \u00een urme. Specific uleiului din frunze este \u015fi prezen\u0163a unor compu\u015fi ca cinamat de etil \u015fi ylangen.<br \/>\nUleiul provenit din r\u0103d\u0103cini nu are aplica\u0163ii practice, fiind produs sporadic. Acest ulei con\u0163ine o mare cantitate de camfor (aprox. 80%), terpinen \u2013 4 &#8211; ol \u015fi numai 5% aldehid\u0103 cinamic\u0103.<br \/>\nScor\u0163isoara este o surs\u00e3 important de vitamine, minerale si antioxidanti \u2013 mai exact, 100gr contin:calorii \u2013 247 kcal;lipide totale \u2013 1.2 g;sodiu \u2013 10 mg;potasiu \u2013 431 mg;carbohidrati \u2013 81 g;fibre alimentare \u2013 53 g;zahar \u2013 2.2 g;calciu \u2013 1 g;fier \u2013 8.3 g;vitamina A \u2013 295 IU;vitamina C \u2013 3.8 mg;vitamina B6 \u2013 0.2 mg;magneziu \u2013 60 mg.<br \/>\nScor\u0163isoara  poate ajuta persoanele care au probleme digestive.
